The lead changed hands again in the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour’s RM180,000 Kelantan Closed Championship today when R. Nachimuthu took control with a two-stroke lead.

Joint leader after the first round, Nachimuthu shot a third round two-under 70 for a six-under-par 210 total, with one day to go at Kelantan Golf & Country Club on the east coast.

Airil Rizman (72) was second on 212, with overnight leader S. Murthy a shot further back on three-under after a 76, alongside Akhmal Tarmizee, who had a 72.

Shaaban Hussin rounded off the top-five on two-under 214. He was also over-par for the day, shooting a 73.

Kim Leun Kwang posted the low round of the day, shooting a four-under 68. That gallant effort moved him up to joint 12th in one-over for the tournament.

The young man, who only turns 21 at the end of this year, said he was delighted to have played that well today and added that it was a reflection of his hard work in training.

“I have been training hard with my coach Tony Maloney and it has been reaping benefits lately,” he said in reference to his fourth place finish last weekend.

“I will attempt to continue to do the same things in tomorrow’s final round and see where it takes me.

“I hit the ball very well today, with the driver and my irons, but my putting was average and the birdies I made were mostly tap-ins,” he added.
